POSITION: Visa Assistant – TEMPORARY FSN 6/FP 8
OPENING DATE: January 8, 2010
CLOSING DATE: January 22, 2010
WORK HOURS: Full time; 40 hours/week.

The U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires is seeking a Visa Assistant to work in the Consular Section for a period of six months.

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION

The incumbent processes non-immigrant visas by receiving, screening, identifying and classifying; printing, sticking, quality controlling and returning visaed passports and related documents in a high-volume operation. S/he provides non-immigrant visa information to the public and completes general visa-related clerical duties.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

NOTE: All applicants are instructed to address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each criterion. The job knowledge and skills /abilities detailed below are required for the full performance of the job.

  • A High School degree is required.
  • The incumbent must have at least one year experience in a related field (visas, travel document screening, etc.)
  • Level IV (fluent) English and Spanish are required.
  • Advanced typing and computers skills are required
  • The incumbent must have a thorough understanding of Argentine geography, society and culture.
